The Places we carry
– transit graphics
![]()
These Illustrations are just a
method to connect different worlds; most of the time is a connection between
Austria and Nicaragua.
Sometimes the main statement is that
it does not really matter if you are here or there, everybody will transit
differently. The context in which you are placed might affect your travel and
the way you react towards it, but the journeys will be always different even if
you share the same context.
Some of the illustrations are part
of what I heard on the conversations in Nicaragua’s bus stations back in summer
2019, (positives or negatives and the anecdotes). These are some of the voices
and memories now I carry with me.
I also would like to imagine, what
would happen if the people I had the conversation in Nicaragua with, they are
place in Vienna train station and vice versa? How would the societies react? Or
what feelings would be triggered? How others see this part of the world. How
they imagine it could be here in Vienna?
Sometimes, when you migrate, you are
so use to move in certain scenarios, like a bus station in Central America,
where is so disorganized, yet so friendly that you could easily rely on the support
of the people around you… However, when you cross the ocean and find yourself
on a cold train station, not in your language, everybody in a rush and distance
of everything you know and love, you could find yourself asking, what I have
done? This anxiety could be really hard
and stressful. You’re all alone in unknown territories.
It is important that we understand this,
and the fact that our suitcases are by far different, in order to bring up empathy and provide a
better harmony into this spaces and most important a fairer society, and
inclusive one.
