What is Questionism?
Questionism is an initiative
that creates space to explore the transformative potential of questions.
Questionism proposes to open a
transdisciplinary platform (and physical space) to incubate a structure for the
sharing of knowledge, peer-to-peer exchange and collaborative ‘doing’.
Breaking conventional ways of learning and
questioning knowledge production, Questionism opens up a new space to embrace
the transformative potentials of questions,
The Department of Questionism (School
of Thought) is a proposal to establish an informal department within the
academic context, an alternative space where students empower themselves by
teaching, learning and doing. It offers an approach to change hierarchies and
structures of decision making in the process of knowledge production and it’s
sharing; and promote diversity, transdisciplinary exchange and collaboration.
Formats of the Questionism:
Questionism has proposed in previous events
1. Questionyards
They consist of a series of encounters,
experiments, performances, and interventions. They host different formats to
explore the process of questioning and facilitate collective creative actions.
Questionyards create spaces for interdisciplinary sharing and playing
with questioning.
The first gathering was realized as a Questionyard
on March 10, 2018, with a lecture performance and two workshops offered by
students of the Social Design studio. Questionyards are laboratories for
interdisciplinary exchange and collaborative action implemented in the
framework of Questionism.
The first try out
intended to question our production of knowledge and knowledge itself and breaking
conventional ideas of learning.
The
elements that were considered in the workshops were:
- Experiments lead base
- The art
of Crafting questions
- Interdisciplinary
2. The Quest.
.
The second gathering was realized in public space
within ‘Oskar nimmt Platz’ project on May 14, 2018. Following the presentation,
Quest game was introduced for participation of people by answering questions
with questions. The first question ‘What is public space?’ evolved
into the question ….. through the perception of different people passing by
within a day.
